the skills framework (sfw) is a skillsfuture initiative developed for the singapore workforce to promote skills mastery and lifelong learning. training providers can gain insights on sector trends, existing and emerging skills that are in demand, and design programmes to address the industry needs accordingly. the sfw for early childhood contains information on career pathways, occupations, job roles, skills and competencies and training programmes. the guide to occupations and skills for the early childhood sector will be available in dec 2021. the skills maps covers a total of 27 job roles, critical work functions, key tasks and skills and competencies aligned to three tracks.
click here (pdf, 255.23 kb) to download the overview of technical skills and competencies for the sfw for early childhood. each job role in the sfw for early childhood has critical core skills identified. the training programmes provide information on skills acquisition that are available for new entrants and in-service personnel to acquire skills and competencies required for various job roles in the early childhood sector. these are programmes through which individuals can acquire the critical core skills (ccs), which are transferable and can be applied across sectors. the ccs facilitate employability by supporting individuals in acquiring relevant technical skills and competencies (tscs) for various job roles in different sectors.
the skillsfuture study award encourages and supports early childhood educators who are singapore citizens to develop and deepen their skills needed by the ec sector. • must be accepted into and provide proof of admission to supported course (full qualification) before applying for the skillsfuture study award for early childhood (ec) sector. • must not have completed half of the supported course by the end of the application period • not a previous recipient of any skillsfuture study award. confirmation email from niec evaluation of applications will take place about 4 to 6 weeks after the closing date. we will continue to review whether the skillsfuture study award can be extended to other ec courses that help ec educators deepen their skills. 3. why are (a) fresh graduates and (b) individuals seeking to make a career switch to jobs in the ec sector, not eligible for the skillsfuture study award?
the intent of the skillsfuture study award for ec sector is to support skills deepening, professional and career development of in-service educators who aspire to take on larger job roles. you do not need to be nominated by your employer for the skillsfuture study award. the study award aims to support the skills deepening of singaporeans by helping to defray out-of-pocket expenses. applicants who have completed pdc1 of sdels would have completed half of the course, and hence will not be considered for the study award. as such, public officers are encouraged to apply for the in-house schemes instead of the skillsfuture study award. ecda reserves the right to request for the return of the monetary award in the event you were unable to complete the programme within its respective maximum candidature period.
