head start (hs) is a family centered child development program whose mission is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. we encourage parents to build their skills by becoming involved in our program, doing this helps to increase self-confidence and problem solving skills in both the parents and children. sccap head start has been in existence since 1965 and provides service to 267 children ages three to five in 6 locations and  classrooms across the county. we are open to all children and families regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, and disability.
