in addition to communicating with families during morning drop-off and afternoon pick up, i send home a daily note for families about the center their child play in, the book we read for story lab that day, and the special we attended so they can create a dialogue with their child. i have also shared my phone number with families so they can reach me when they need to. i continue to build family and community relationships by incorporating these topics into my curriculum. it helped students feel comfortable in the classroom as well. family photographs are displayed in our classroom throughout the year. in every theme, we encourage students to make connections to their own lives.
