the edgewood early childhood center houses all of the district’s early childhood programming with the exception of montessori ppk. we have full-day, year-round preschool care for infants through 5-year-olds, as well as gsrp full-day classes that operate during the school year. our mission is to provide quality child care in a safe, nurturing environment. we believe children learn best through play and “hands-on” activities that are developmentally appropriate. our activities integrate multiple subject areas, curricular domains, and are organized around themes, “studies” or “experiences”. starting in our 3-year-old class, in addition to large group activities, we work in small groups on letter and number recognition, story writing, sequencing, and classifying objects. we utilize the creative curriculum in all of our classrooms from infants through prek.
